In July of 2004, Fred Taub, who runs Boycott Watch, an organization that fact checks boycotts, other consumer actions and rumor-based emails received an email from a friend asking him to look into an impassioned email requesting help to save a life.

There was good reason to be skeptical about the email - there are many hoaxes circulating via email, and this could have just been one more of them - Boycott Watch is known for looking into the validity of information in emails.

Fred Taub found the story to be true. Stuart Zimmer, a husband and father of three small children, was in need of a kidney transplant. Knowing he could not sit back and do nothing, Fred Taub decided to create the website www.SaveStuart.org to help save Stuart's life.

With the help of the website, the information about Stuart Zimmer circulated over the Internet, and a donor was found. On April 28th, 2005, Stuart Zimmer got a new lease on life thanks to a successful kidney transplant.

Since making www.SaveStuart.org, Fred Taub has received numerous requests to make similar websites, and once again, he could not say no. A problem, however, existed - he can not make every website himself, nor can he single handedly sponsor all the name registrations and host all the web sites for people in similar situations. Additionally, no one single person can design all the websites for such people in need. Professionally designed websites can cost as much as $1000 or more and most families lack the resources to make such a site themselves or raise the funds to pay for such a site, especially when they are copping with volumes of medical bills. Something still had to be done.

It became apparent that there exists a need to create such websites with independently verified information posted in a single place. There was also the need to remove the burden of managing the website and it's advertisement from families affected. Thus, on May 8, 2005, Neshama.org was born.

Neshama is not a bypass or work-around to the United Network for Organ Sharing, or UNOS. In fact, we fully support the UNOS system. Our goal is to encourage people to donate by letting them see their donation will have a direct effect on the lives of others.

Now it is your turn to help. If you know someone in need, please contact us and let know about it and we will try and help. If you can help by volunteering to design or host such a website, we need your help too - we can not do it all ourselves. If you want to sponsor such web sites please let us know as well because we have to pay for services that have not been donated.

Neshama.org is here to help you help save a life.
